Dead Tooth - "Sporty Boy"
Dead Tooth’s rise in 2022 has been meteoric, to say the least. After earning the top prize at Our Wicked Lady’s Winter Madness contest in February, made their mark on SXSW with some memorable performances, and released a dynamite EP called Pig Pile. It was one for the books, to say the least. They recently capped off their memorable year-long run with one of their most invigorating songs to date, “Sporty Boy.”
Part of what makes Dead Tooth’s music so compelling is its immediacy. It’s not just fast, it’s propulsive in a way that’s impactful. Frontman Zach James’ words are cutting, making the frenetic instrumentation seem all the more appropriate. The second verse is particularly noteworthy: “Blood pumps and saliva sits; On the asphalt sizzling, sizzling missing my lips; Growing tired and patience thin; I got a lot of things going; And I don't know where to begin.” “Sporty Boy” is meant to get your blood flowing and if it doesn’t, I’d recommend checking your pulse. You could be dead!
The band also shared a video for the track, which you can watch below.
“Sporty Boy” is available to purchase on Bandcamp. You can also stream the song on your platform of choice. Keep up with Dead Tooth by following them on Instagram.
