Damn Jackals - "Lovely Nuthin'"

As July chugs along, you may find yourself searching for a real rockin’ summer song to power you through the current heat wave. Well, you won’t have to look much further than “Lovely Nuthin’,” the brand new single from New York City glam punk kings Damn Jackals. The track has just the right amount of energy, spunk, hooks, and fuzz to kick off the second half of the summer.

“Lovely Nuthin’” is the quintet’s first release since 2018’s Crooked Castle Vol. 1 and it sees them taking a step forward in their sonic development. The band’s sound on their latest release carries on the exploration of glam, punk, and garage rock heard on their debut full length, but with a definite crisper feel, which was a conscious decision on the part of frontman Beau Croxton. During our interview on Local Fidelity this past Saturday, he shared that the band opted to work with producer Paul Ritchie in Belmar, New Jersey in an attempt to “clean up their sound” a bit, while still maintaining their trademark New York edge. The end result is a seriously toe-tappin’ bop that’s a pleasing cross-generational hybrid of a bevy of New York legends like the New York Dolls, the Ramones, and The Strokes.

Stream it below! And if you missed Damn Jackals appearance on Local Fidelity, don’t fret! The episode will be available to stream this weekend.

“Lovely "Nuthin’” is available on all streaming platforms. Keep up with the band by following them on Instagram and liking them on Facebook.
