Johnny Dynamite and the Bloodsuckers - “Triflin’ Kids”

Johnny Dynamite and the Bloodsuckers - “Triflin’ Kids”

Johnny Dynamite is wasting no time getting back in the game. He released his debut full length, Heartbroken, early last year, and before summer is in full force, he’ll be dropping his second full length, Sleeveless, in late June. On Friday, he shared the first single from his forthcoming sophomore record, a fluid synth-pop banger called “Triflin’ Kids.”

If you enjoyed songs like “Walking Poetry” and “Hey Join Me (You’re Not Alone),” from his debut, then you’ll love the gloomy and percolating electronic sound of “Triflin’ Kids.” Dynamite is a synth wizard, and his mastery of this electronic instrument is on full display. The saturated synths drive the song’s strong melody, propelling it to glistening heights, while his velvety voice weaves in between a sparkly, yet thumping beat. Describing the track as “A sarcastic take on a trite pop song set in a Brooklyn dive bar that touches on themes of lust & infidelity,” he paints a vivid and lifelike portrait of a bustling Bushwick watering hole, packing the lyrics with plenty of dramatic tension between two potential lovers. It’s a straight-up synth-pop soap opera that’ll rope you right in.

“Triflin’ Kids” will appear on Dynamite’s forthcoming second album, Sleeveless, which is out on June 25th via Born Losers Records. You can stream the track on your platform of choice. Keep up with Dynamite by following him on Instagram and liking him on Facebook.
