Jack Symes (ft. Eva B. Ross) - "Wait "

Jack Symes’ new single “Wait” is a stripped-down indie-folk ballad that describes the process of letting go of the desire to shape uncontrollable circumstances. Coming to terms with this reality can be a tall order for many, but it can also be quite liberating. Ceding this urge and deciding to embrace patience is a central lyrical theme on “Wait,” and it also informs many of the track’s calming sonic elements, such as Symes’ velvety guitar playing and his coo-like vocal delivery in its early stages. And although the affecting track thrives on its more scaled back instrumentation, his guitar and voice are not solitary. Rather, the song is nicely fleshed out by a mellow, but mighty brass section, light percussion, and some gorgeous backing harmonies provided by Eva B. Ross. Consistent with the freeing feeling that comes with letting go, the song gains significant traction as it reaches its final moments, with Symes’ voice noticeably rising in intensity, before stepping back for a swirling instrumental conclusion.

“Wait” is the lead single from Symes’ forthcoming sophomore album, Tompkins Park, which is set for release on March 26th. You can stream the track on your platform of choice and purchase it via Bandcamp. Keep up with Symes by following him on Instagram and liking him on Facebook.
