Celeste Krishna & The Monarchs - "Blue Family Carol"

Celeste Krishna & The Monarchs - "Blue Family Carol"

Celeste Krishna’s new single “Blue Family Carol” is a gorgeous folk song with traditional elements of the genre that emphasize familial lore, narrative storytelling, and shared experience. With instrumentation that centers on a light acoustic guitar strum, her voice is truly front and center, as she unravels the complicated history of those who came before her. Throughout the course of the song, Krishna reflects on the past with hymnal styled vocals that describe the experiences of her maternal ancestors and how their story shaped her own identity. Her charming and poetic storytelling touches on the many phases of their journey from New England to Krishna’s native Alabama, and their shared familial experiences.  The song is also a testament to the strength of love and the bond between generations, as Krishna sings in the chorus “ just like my grandma said so, when your time comes to go, in our memory and love, in our blood, in our words, we will carry you on.”

“Blue Family Carol” is the fourth single from Krishna’s forthcoming album, My Blue House, which is scheduled for release on October 16th via Blonde Records and Frances Lakshmi Records.
