Ilithios - "Florist"
Ilithios, the project of Brooklyn’s Manny Nomikos (Catty, Gracie Mansion, Coyote Eyes), shared their latest single, “Florist,” last week. The song explores the complexities of identity and feeling out of place while chasing the fleeting feeling of satisfaction and battling the inner-demons of self-doubt. Nomikos structured the lyrics as a “conversation between two people, or of a person with themselves,” as they grapple with the back and forth that accompanies second-guessing yourself. Through a hazy sounding art-pop lens, Nomikos utilizes electronic undertones, bright guitars, and flickers of pulsing percussion to create an aura of uncertainty - one that’s marked by lyrics that embody the kind of internal self-doubt that can dominate your thinking, such as “You wanna go out tonight / But I’m a terrible dancer / You wanna go out tonight / Don’t you know I’m a terrible dancer.” The song also features some gorgeous guest vocals from Nomikos’ Catty bandmate, Ana Becker.
“Florist” is the title track from Ilithios forthcoming debut album, which is set for release on October 23rd via Totally Real Records. You can pre-order it right now on limited edition yellow vinyl.
