JW Francis - "New York"
JW Francis is back with another lo-fi bedroom pop gem to propel us right over the dreaded midsummer hump. His brand new single, “New York,” is a delightful ode to the Big Apple that has a ton of gusto worthy of its namesake and some quirky twists that are further emblematic of this unique metropolis. The song leaps out of the gate rather quickly, tugged along by one of Francis’ trademark ringing riffs with a quintessential New York lyric to match its hustling tempo: “I’ll sleep when dead I go, I go, I go, I go, I go.” The song keeps racing along until Francis slows things down to catch his breath, kicking up the guitar reverb and letting out an “AHHHH” of relief. Things then return to their original frenetic pace, accelerating with each utterance of “I feel it in myself.”
