LAPÊCHE - "Bottom Feeder (NoCoding Remix)
LAPÊCHE had a big 2019. The Brooklyn band released a great EP, played a string of dates supporting the legendary Jawbox, and even managed to squeeze in an appearance at The Fest in Florida. 2020 has presented a unique set of challenges for everyone, but it’s been especially tough on musicians. COVID-19 has put gigs on hold for the foreseeable future, but it hasn’t stopped LAPÊCHE’s creative drive. The quartet recently shared two excellent new demos via Bandcamp and has plans to share additional songs in the coming months. Last week, they also announced a new series of remixes of songs from their 2019 EP Spirit Bunnies.
The first remix of their song “Bottom Feeder” comes from Gainsville, Florida based electronic musician NoCoding. His mix takes the song in a completely different, beat-driven direction with an array of electronic samples, looping vocal tracks, and an aggressive rhythm. Despite this, the new mix still manages to capture the darkness of the original, albeit in a new way. The steady build-up of emotion in the original is replaced by some consistently pounding and chaotic beats, giving a unique sonic perspective to the song, which deals with self-destruction and addiction.
You can purchase “Bottom Feeder (NoCoding Remix)” via Bandcamp. All proceeds benefit Black Food Justice.
