Suburban Living - "Dirt"
Philadelphia’s Suburban Living are back and sounding more polished than ever before. With four years between releases, the band has certainly spent time sharpening their vivid synth-driven sound, as evidenced by their gorgeous string of recent singles, including their most recent tune, “Dirt.” It’s the group’s fourth single from their next album, How To Be Human.
The quartet drew inspiration from Robert Smith and The Cure on “Dirt,” but instead of the brooding nature of most Cure songs, “Dirt” manages to simultaneously sound gloomy and bright. The lush goth-pop track features synths that sound light and airy and glimmering guitars that seep through a steady spurt of bass and drums. Adding to the song’s overall mood is an absolutely haunting piano riff that pops up right before each chorus and a whirlwind of guitars that end “Dirt” on an exciting note.
“Dirt” will appear on Suburban Living’s third full-length album, How to Be Human. It’s set for release on August 28th via Egghunt Records. You can pre-order the album on limited edition vinyl via the Egghunt website. Check out Suburban Living on Bandcamp, follow them on Instagram, and like them on Facebook.
