Viktor Longo - "Baby, You Should Know"
“Baby You Should Know,” the brand new single from Viktor Longo, is the love letter to New York City that we need during these uncertain times. The dark sounding electro-pop track paints a picturesque portrait of uniquely New York experiences through Longo’s warm croon, such as smoking cigarettes on a fire escape or rolling blunts on a front stoop. With a palpitating electronic beat, feather light guitars, and swelling synths, the song is also a bit of a reality check for outsiders, as Longo gives us a frank perspective of his experiences in New York. While he admits the city has given him his shares of scars and the streets aren’t actually paved with gold, “Baby You Should Know” conveys the message that it's still a place where many things are possible. For all its grit and grime, there’s a unifying and hardening experience that many share living and pursuing their dreams here. Longo wears this as a marker of pride as he sings, “it’s just the way I talk / I’m from New York.”
The track was produced with and mixed by Harper James at Degraw Sound in Gowanus. Listen to it on Spotify. Check out Longo on Bandcamp.
Longo was also in the process of making a video for the song before the pandemic hit. However, he shared that “production hasn't stopped though and it's just become a part of the story.” So, stay tuned for a video in the near future.
