Attawalpa - "Done Hanging On"
The video for “Done Hanging On” by London artist latest video from Attawalpa is as trippy as it is soothing. In an animated style that’s reminiscent of Superjail meets Yellow Submarine, Attawalpa’s soft croon guides you through a universe of colorful creatures and bright objects, as he subtly traces the origins of heartache and the perilous journey that it sets in motion. The video is both aurally and visually stimulating, with soul-stirring instrumentation and front person Luis Felber’s Matt Berninger-like voice steering the surrealist narrative, which closely mirrors the song’s lyrics. For the video, Attawalpa recruited the talents of animators Alex Gamsu Jenkins and Joe Taylor, who described their inspiration for the video:
I think we pretty much decided to follow the lyrics of the song but in a very surreal way. There isn't so much an overall narrative, it's more like a dream-like sequence of images moving in time with the song.
It’s an incredibly well done, multi-dimensional piece of art. So, stream it below and rewatch it to your heart’s content! It’s certainly one of our favorites of 2020! Keep up with Attawalpa on Facebook and Instagram.
