SunnyBoyy - "Nothing"
SunnyBoyy is the relatively new project of Pat DeFrancisci, a noted New Jersey hardcore kid who first explored his poppier proclivities in the late 2010s through the band trü. The scene veteran proved to be quite good at shifting musical gears. Though no longer active, trü had a nice little run and shared some catchy, garage pop tunes across two EPs, Closer Than It Seems (2020) and Trü (2017). SunnyBoyy built off of the sonic foundations with its debut release, a raucous and hook-filled tune called “The Recipe.” DeFrancisci is building it up even bigger with the project’s latest single, a true slice of rugged power pop called “Nothing.”
DeFrancisci flexes his 90s alt-rock muscles on the project’s second-ever single, “Nothing.” The combination of big, fuzzy guitars, saccharine vocal melodies, and crisp production really scratches a certain nostalgia itch - one that’ll definitely resonate with the millennial crowd. It wouldn’t sound out of place on your local rock radio station circa 1997, so if you’re craving some polished rock and roll with a pop punch, then give this track a spin.
