Flycatcher - "Sodas In The Freezer"
New Jersey’s Flycatcher are certainly poised to bust out with their latest single, “Sodas In The Freezer.” That really wasn’t meant to be any kind of play on words alluding to what actually happens when you leave a can of Pepsi in the freezer for too long. Instead, that first sentence rests completely on the song’s laurels, as “Sodas In The Freezer” is undeniably anthemic, complete with countless guitar hooks and an overall poppier sheen that’s present from its opening moments.
The New Brunswick-based quartet are no strangers to crafting catchy choruses - just listen to their last single “Games” or “Moving Forward” from their 2019 album Songs For Strangers for some excellent examples of their melodic mastery, but “Sodas In The Freezer” sounds very much like a band hitting their songwriting stride. The track’s choruses, in particular, are fine-tuned for maximum impact, complete with perfectly timed starts and stops, vocals that dance around a powerful chorus progression, and statement making drumming. The loud-quiet dynamics are also executed with needle-like precision, with the quieter parts bookending those aforementioned larger than life choruses, essentially leading up to, and coming down from, the song’s emotional highs.
The band also shared a video for the song, which you can watch below.
“Sodas in the Freezer” is available on all streaming platforms. Keep up with Flycatcher by following them on Instagram and liking them on Facebook.
