aBIRD - "Nothing Like Us"
aBIRD, the project of Montclair, New Jersey-based songwriter Adam Bird, dropped their first new music in three years last week, an electro-banger of a track called “Nothing Like Us.” In the vein of bands like LCD Soundsystem and Portishead, Bird keeps the beat danceable and sharp, while the synths are bubbling and thick. Bird drops in a series of coordinated adrenaline boosts in the choruses, which explode after the slow burning verses. He definitely makes great use of these sonic contrasts, particularly through the track’s vocals, which really resonate thanks to those upticks in energy. In a recent Instagram post, Bird shared that the song’s lyrics explore “in/out groups” and “the wealth gap, among the many other divides that have been growing wider in the last few years.”
“Nothing Like Us” is available on all streaming platforms. Keep up with the project by liking them on Facebook and following them on Instagram.
