Bandits On The Run - "Spellbound"
The last time we heard from Bandits On The Run, they treated us to an incredible live performance from a cabin in North Carolina as part of a very special Look At My Records! live stream! It’s hard to believe that was already over a year ago, but if you’re interested in checking out their performance and learning more about the band’s cool backstory, you can check it out here on the site.
One of the songs in their short, but very sweet set was the captivating “Spellbound,” a track that’s been in the band’s live repertoire for a little while, and one that really highlights their well-refined chemistry as a trio and unique genre-bending sound. The Bandits love to harmonize and the layered vocals on “Spellbound” are one of the key ingredients that make it such a memorable song. Led by Regina Strathorn’s anthemic and booming voice, the track’s various elements progressively fall nicely into place, initially starting out more stripped-down before those majestic three-part harmonies and flourishes of cello work their way into the mix during the first chorus. After that, the song takes off and enters a bit of a magic zone where guitar, cello, and gorgeous vocals all swirl together in perfect, harmonic bliss. Well, maybe not bliss, as lyrically, the vibe is more along the lines of capturing the haunting feeling of lingering heartache, but you get the idea!
You can stream “Spellbound” on your platform of choice. You can also purchase the band’s music via Bandcamp and/or grab some merch via their website. Keep up with Bandits On The Run by following them on Instagram and liking them on Facebook.
