Chloe Berry - "Something New"

19-year-old songwriter Chloe Berry popped onto our radar last week and she’s likely to stay there for the foreseeable future thanks to her light and catchy bedroom pop tunes. Her brand new single, “Something New,” is about as airy sounding as a song can get, and Berry captures this featherlight feel through her cherubic voice and dazzling guitar playing. Against a prodding bassline, Berry sings about the restlessness and frustration that sets in as a result of monotonous routines and boredom. And though there is a noticeable aura of melancholy in the beginnings, Berry’s voice brightens with hope in the choruses, as she sings about the excitement of new experiences and self-discovery. This optimism reemerges at the song’s conclusion, as she sings “at the end of the day, we all feel like we’ve won” while a synth riff sparkles and then slowly fades out.
