Hello Lightfoot - "Twenty-Seven"
Known for her surf rock bops as the front person of New York City mainstays High Waisted, Jessica Louise Dye struck out on her own last week with the release of her first single as Hello Lightfoot. The track, which is titled “Twenty Seven,” sees Dye venturing into more electro-pop territory with a danceable beat and slick, confessional-style vocals that guide the song’s flowing rhythm. The vintage, garage-inspired guitars that characterized High Waisted’s sound are replaced by magnetic synths and production elements that highlight the song’s infectious groove, representing a sonic change of pace that Dye handles with absolute ease.
“Twenty Seven” is the lead single from Hello Lightfoot’s forthcoming debut EP, which has been quite a long time coming. Dye shared that work on the EP started about a decade ago, but she subsequently shelved the project until earlier this year following the death of a close friend. The profound loss inspired her to continue work on the unfinished songs, a process that Dye described as “heavy” and “cathartic.”
