Rat Motel - "Tutankhamen"
Columbus, Ohio garage rock outfit Rat Motel make music that has a real meat and potatoes feel to it. They’re scuzzy musicians from the American heartland and their straight up rock and roll sound evokes the same kind of listener response as the MC5, another group from the Midwest known for their tenacity. There’s a sense of danger that radiates from their guitars, and it’s quite palpable on their latest single, “Tutankhamen,” which we’re excited to premiere today.
Seth and Clayton Peacock, the duo at the heart of Rat Motel, benefit from a brotherly chemistry that stems from the fact that they’re well… actual brothers. The guitars and rhythm section on “Tutankhamen” are locked in and nicely paired with the Peacocks’ sultry vocal melodies, which weave in and out of harmony. It’s a rollicking tune, ear-wormy garage punk tune that’ll have you humming along.
