Fritz Hutchinson - "Apologize (To Your Wife)"

We’re excited to premiere “Apologize (To Your Wife)” the brand new single from Kansas City multi-instrumentalist Fritz Hutchinson. The song will appear on his forthcoming sophomore full-length, Movie Night, which is set for release on April 15th via Manor Records. If you’re new to Hutchinson’s music, the song definitely captures what he’s all about musically, as it showcases his energetic disposition, propensity for crafting clever, narrative-driven lyrics, and blossoming, folk-centric style.

Though it’s a bit more toned down when compared to his last single, “Ladder Shake,” “Apologize” definitely builds off of the kind of lively and robust atmosphere that Hutchinson explored on the lead track from Movie Night. The song moves at a more deliberate pace, but increases in intensity in the choruses, with guitars that are a bit funkier sounding and percussion that nicely rounds out the transitions from its sparser moments. Hutchinson draws from an eclectic and colorful sonic palette, building off a foundation of folk music that incorporates the bright brass sounds of New Orleans-style street music. The horns are particularly full and buoyant, especially as the song climaxes, where they’re immediately followed by a chorus of beautiful harmonies.
