LAPÊCHE - "Gracie" (Samuel Fogarino Remix)

Those who were lucky enough to attend Goatchella Part I last month at the Historic Harsimus Cemetery in Jersey City got to see LAPêCHE perform live for the first time since February! In addition to this incredible one-off performance, LAPêCHE has been keeping busy by sharing demos of the songs they’ve been working on during quarantine, dropping a great music video for their song “Somewhat Similar,” and more.

Earlier this year, the band announced a special remix series of songs from their 2019 EP Spirit Bunnies with proceeds from each remix benefiting a different organization, such as Black Food Justice and The Loveland Foundation. They’ve since shared some great reinterpretations of “Bottom Feeder” and “Somewhat Similar.” Today, they’re sharing a remix of “Gracie,” the first track off of Spirit Bunnies

Samuel Fogarino, best known as the drummer of Interpol, provided the remix for “Gracie,” and its a haunting, minimalist take on an already dark song. He chops up the track, allowing space for some extra reverberated pieces of Krista Diem’s vocals to spread out. He throws in some guitar flourishes and maintains a fairly ominous beat throughout that stops and starts at just the right time for an absolutely hair-raising, chilling effect.

Stream the track below and purchase it via Bandcamp.  All proceeds from sales of this remix benefit The Movement Voter Project: Big 5 Battleground Fund, an organization that supports groups in key battleground states who successfully built vote infrastructure in 2018 and who will be even more critical to victory in 2020. Keep up with LAPêCHE by liking them on Facebook and following them on Instagram.
