Justin Angelo Morey - "I Want Your Love" b/w "Waving Hello"

Look At My Records! is very excited to premiere “I Want Your Love” b/w “Waving Hello,” the new double single from Jersey City’s Justin Angelo Morey. The two tracks are the debut solo release from Morey, who’s well known for his work with bands like Rye Coalition, The Black Hollies, and Sunshine & The Rain. On his first two solo tunes, Morey steps out on his own with a unique and rollicking hybrid of vintage garage rock and lush neo-psychedelia that incorporates influences from rock and roll’s golden age. 

The two songs showcase the two sides of the above hybrid: “I Want Your Love” is a raw and rocking up-tempo tune that’ll get your toes tapping, while “Waving Hello” channels more of the softer, exotic rhythms of psychedelia. “I Want Your Love” absolutely crushes with its fuzzy guitar tones and barrels into high gear after a few notes when Morey unleashes a wild “WOW!” His vocal delivery exudes swagger, as he describes unexpectedly becoming lovestruck, and the vice-like grip that it maintains on his thoughts. The track is littered with some real lean and bouncy riffs, and a features a hypnotic instrumental interlude about three-quarters of the way through that’s anchored by a thunderous bassline and a mesmeric beat. “Waving Hello” is a bit trippier, opening with more tranquil and spacey, Eastern-sounding instrumentation. Nicely layered harmonies play a more prominent role as well, some really gorgeous ones at that, which helps to accentuate Morey’s message of longing for connection with strangers and people that you encounter in everyday life.
