Brooks Hudgins - "February"
Bushwick cowboy Brooks Hudgins showcases a lot of different influences on his latest single, “February.” The songwriter’s approach takes little pieces of his background and injects them into his sound, including his roots in Tennessee and Texas, his upbringing in Los Angeles, and his current home of Brooklyn. It’s the kind of tune that channels the grit of the city, but doesn’t shy away from the type of longing emotion that characterizes country music. Mixing elements of spaghetti-western melodrama and wry humor with bleak and dense atmospherics, Hudgins sings about coming to terms with the end of a relationship. The instrumentation is dazzling, as Hudgins adds flickers of violins and trumpets that perfectly complement his delicate guitar work and emotive vocal stylings.
“February” is the second single from Hudgins forthcoming debut album Drive Thru Communion, which is set for release on December 11th via Body Bag Records. Stream it below! Keep up with Hudgins by following him on Instagram and checking out his website.
