Order of Operations - "Psycho Killer"
Brooklyn’s Order of Operations are back in the New York groove. That’s a Kiss reference, but the return of this Brooklyn outfit is all about a different, way better New York-based group: the Talking Heads. The synth-obsessed solo project of Alain Paradis (Miserable Chillers, Your Dream Coat) is set for a revival in the waning days of 2020, and they’re starting things off with a stark, brooding cover of “Psycho Killer.”
Order of Operations’ take on this classic track is less frantic and more dulcet when compared with the original. It has some distinctly krautrock undertones and revels in minimalist ambiance, setting a striking mood immediately with twinkling synths and a haunting, hypnotic backbeat. Paradis' strong, dominating vocal performance injects just the right amount of zeal into the gloomy track, which follows a taut and trance-like rhythm that reinterprets the song in a fresh and invigorating way.
“Psycho Killer” is the first single off of Order of Operations forthcoming release, Love Me Til My Heart Stops, a 4-song Talking Heads cover record, mixed by Alain Paradis and mastered by Sarah Register (Depeche Mode, Cold War Kids, Lower Dens). It’s set for release on November 19th. You can stream the track on Spotify. Keep up with the band by following them on Instagram and liking them on Facebook.
