Blue Yonder - "You Are The Morning"
We’re very excited to premiere “You Are The Morning,” the brand new single from Brooklyn indie-folk trio Blue Yonder. The song is the second single from the band’s forthcoming debut album, Ladies of the Night, which is set for release on September 25th via Spirit Lust.
On “You Are The Morning,” the trio builds off the eclectic blend of folk, country, and psychedelia featured on their debut single, “Lover of Mine.” Amongst a warm blend of wailing guitars and driving percussion, front person Lena Fjortoft sings with a subtle lovesick twang about the object of her affection, likening them to the “morning dew,” “the sun as it’s first going down,” and of course, “the morning.” In a way that’s smitten and sweet, she projects a bit of an unabashed authenticity, wearing her heart on her sleeve with little reservation in a style that’s reminiscent of Will Oldham or Angel Olsen. The song’s strong and saccharine melody is punchy and complemented by some light, crooning backing vocals at times that further expands the trio’s distinct brand of Americana-tinged folk. Though the band only formed earlier this year, their sound already sounds sharp, mature, and refined.
