Cigar Cigarette - "Video Age"

Cigar Cigarette - "Video Age"

We’re very stoked to premiere another awesome video from Los Angeles’ Cigar Cigarette. This time, it’s for their latest single, “Video Age,” which is another driving, goth-inspired industrial track. The song’s dark and ominous beat moves at a calculated pace that’s almost menacing-like with effect laden-vocals that burst in, and then slow to a crawl. It also packs some other elements that further accentuate it’s dark vibes, like horns that sound and feel dangerous, creeping synths, and a rhythm that’ll give you goosebumps.

The accompanying video imagines a museum exhibit from sometime in the distant future that’s dedicated to the video and television medium. Chris McLaughlin, the man behind Cigar Cigarette, described the concept behind the video as trying to reflect how the current era consumes media, and how future generations may view it:

“I’m in love with the Video Age” is the punchline to a theme song for our era. I imagine whatever comes next, whether it’s implanted technologies or sticks and stones, people will look back at this time period as the Era of the Screen. It’s a time when the reality for many generations of people has moved into a space that’s fuzzy, distorted, and warped.

The video is a hazy, pinhole glimpse into a museum or Carousel of Progress-like place sometime in a later age. We look into that pinhole and see the room dedicated to our era. It’s like going to the Natural History museum sometime in the future and gazing into the glass case that’s dedicated to us.

Stream the video below! The song is also available on all streaming platforms, including Spotify. Keep up with Cigar Cigarette onFacebook and Instagram!
