Proud Father - "Yaw/Pitch/Roll"
Brendan Chamberlain-Simon, who performs as Proud Father, returned this week with “Yaw/Pitch/Roll,” the second single from his forthcoming debut, The View Of Mars From Earth. Last month, we shared the lead single and title track from the record and provided a little glimpse into Chamberlain-Simon’s cool backstory. As a bit of a refresher, his day job involves driving the Curiosity Rover across the Martian surface and he’s currently part of NASA’s team attempting to fly the first-ever helicopter on Mars. Given his fascinating work experiences, he’s mixing both the personal and professional on his debut album in order “to deliver insight from the unique vantage point of a man on Mars looking back at Earth.” “Yaw/Pitch/Roll” is another excellent track that seamlessly blends lush guitar textures, Chamberlain-Simon’s resonant voice, and lots of little sonic flourishes to help achieve an otherworldly sound.
Chamberlain-Simon also shared a cool visualizer for the track, which features flyover-style renderings generated by Seán Doran, who constructs 3D models of real Martian landscapes using stereo imagery data from the HiRISE camera onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Stream it below!
The View of Earth from Mars is scheduled for release on July 16th via Massif Records.
