Jon The Guilt - "Caroline"
Jon The Guilt has impressed many with a string of catchy and diverse sounding singles in 2020. His first two releases, “Sycophant American” and “F.O.R.GI.V.E.,” are still seeped into my subconscious, so much so, that I find myself shouting along to the chorus of the latter from time to time. What really stood out about Guilt’s first two singles is not just the hooks, but also the variety of influences and diversity of sound between the two. He continues that trend with his latest single, as he’s following up the angular and energetic “F.O.R.GI.V.E.” with a polished, piano-tinged pop song called “Caroline.” It’s another unique addition to his growing catalog, and this time, we see Jon The Guilt composing more of a sweet and intimate mid-tempo ballad. The track opens with some light acoustic strums before plunging into a haunting piano riff. Once again, the song features a surging, power-packed chorus with an impassioned plea: “Oh Caroline, won’t you let me down one more time?” That’s the newest Jon The Guilt hook that’ll be stuck in my head for the rest of the summer.
