Monkeybars - "Empirical Allover Style"
Monkeybars’ latest single, “Empirical Allover Style,” bubbles with a groove-laced ambiance. It moves with a brisk rhythm that’ll make you nod your head fast and repeatedly, but there’s also layer upon layer of otherworldly sounds to dissect, making it a kind of euphonic, danceable jazz-fusion. Guitarist Sahil Ansari’s dexterous guitar playing is siphoned through a mixture of robotic-sounding beats, steady, soft jabs of synths, and modulated vocals that float right along. This swirling mist of sound parts about halfway through, allowing a delicious guitar solo to emerge before some more driving percussion re-establishes itself. The song also works in some sweet and subtle harmonies before some more dazzling guitar work closes things out.
Monkeybars is the project of songwriter Eli Aleinikoff and features contributions from a team of musical heavyweights, including Margaux, Sarah Cicero, Quinn Devlin, Sahil Ansari, and more.
