The Forms Return With New Single “Southern Ocean,” Announce Third Album
Today, New York duo The Forms are sharing their first new music in nearly a decade with a percolating and rhythmic new track called “Southern Ocean.” The project has essentially picked up right where it left off, as the duo once again worked with legendary recording engineer Steve Albini, who also produced their first two full-lengths.
The last taste of new music from the group prior to ‘Southern Ocean’ was their 2011 EP, Derealization, which featured vocal contributions from some heavy hitters like The National’s Matt Berninger and Shudder To Think’s Craig Wedren. Over the course of these releases, The Forms were invited to share the stage with an incredible collection of artists including St. Vincent, Nick Cave, The National, Dizzee Rascal, The Hold Steady, Kurt Vile, Jose Gonzales, Deerhunter, and Bat For Lashes.
“Southern Ocean” is the lead single from The Forms’ forthcoming third album. The single arrives with a visualizer made up of a series of stunning shots of the ocean and will also be available limited edition 7-inch on vinyl via Open Ocean. You can pre-order a copy via their website.
The band also shared a visualizer for the track, which you can stream below.
