sym fera Shares Video for “11/8”
Today, Los Angeles duo sym fera are sharing their gorgeous new single, “11/8.” The two musicians, who have yet to reveal their identities, first released music in late 2019, with a second single following not long after in May of 2020. However, they’ve remained quiet for about a year and a half, until today’s surprise release. “11/8” carries the torch stylistically where their last song, “little things,” left off, but manages to sound even more hypnotic, particularly through the droning and dramatic atmospherics that bookend the song.
In conjunction with the track, they band is also sharing a cinematic video that set in some majestic green spaces, following a woman as she ventures from a small rural cottage into a dense forest. The band shared the following about the inspiration behind the song and the video:
11/8 is about what it feels like to be a human mind that has been hacked by social media. The paranoia, a manufactured, grandiose identity. The way it turns human psychology into a product to be bought and feasted upon by the highest bidder. We all know that no matter how much we pour ourselves into it, it never really becomes a complete picture of who we are. We're chasing true connection while running from complete exposure, and one cannot be had without the other. So, we're running toward something and away from it at the same time, and we never really capture what we chase or escape what chases us. And strangely, we all kind of know this feeling, of trying to be everything and nothing all at once.
